Materials intended for display in an exhibition celebrating Edith Wise Sommerich and Otto Sommerich. Edith was a longtime New School student, founding member and chair of the New School Associates, and, with Otto, a major donor to the school. Jonathan F. Fanton (1943 - ) was the president of The New School from 1982 until 1999. This collection contains material documenting his career as a university and charitable foundation administrator at Yale University, the University of Chicago, The New School, Human Rights Watch, the MacArthur Foundation, Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and other organizations.

The Parsons School of Design Alumni Association was incorporated in 1952 and continued until Parsons School of Design merged into the New School for Social Research in 1970.
