Biographical note

Steven Hoffman obtained a B.S. from Ithaca College and a MA from New York University. In 1974, Hoffman was a doctoral candidate at New York University, working on his dissertation, Sports and Interpersonal Development, and was co-teaching a class on sports for adult learners at the New School for Social Research. He also taught at Medgar Evers College (City University of New York). His final dissertation title was, The Nature and Influence of Messages Communicated through Competitive Team Sports as a Medium of Social Interaction." According to the bibliographic record for his dissertation Hoffmann was born in 1948.

Abstract

Instant Replay was a conversation series held at The New School, focusing on professional sports from the perspectives of players, coaches, journalists and television producers. Steven Hoffman coordinated the course and moderated the sessions. The collection is comprised entirely of reel-to-reel audio recordings.
