Scope and Contents

Consists of nine electronic files in doc, docx and ppt formats: a September 1, 2011 application to the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) for plan approval to launch the Master of Arts in Design Studies, submitted by Joel Towers, Dean, Parsons the New School for Design; Sarah Lawrence, Dean, Parsons School of Art and Design History and Theory; and Lisa DeBenedittis, Associate Dean, Curriculum + Instruction at Parsons; an appendix to be added to course syllabi (undated -- circa 2012-2014); a report by Susan Yelavich describing her accomplishments in the academic year 2012-2013; a 2014 report on the future of the program; April 29, 2014 notes for a meeting with a NASAD reviewer on progress of the new program; 2015 Powerpoint presentation describing the program; September 4, 2017 memorandum from Susan Yelavich to Parsons executive dean Joel Towers, and Sarah E. Lawrence, dean of Parsons MA in Design History and Theory indicating that declining enrollment had put the MA Design Studies program in jeopardy. Also includes a file MA_DS Archive_links provided to the archives by Yelavich upon transfer of materials to the New School Archives. The application is also present in the folder of physical documentation, although there may be some differences between the electronic and physical file.
