Video of the Parsons School of Design annual fashion show at the New York Marriott Marquis. The event honors Lena Horne, actress, singer, and activist. The video begins with a montage depicting preparation for the runway show, sketches of student fashion designs, and footage of the audience. Horne recieves the Parsons Award. Following, she gives a speech about designers encountered in her career. Designer Donald Brooks introduces the annual costume design showcase. The theme for this year's showcase is "Wartime Forties." The Gold Thimble Awards are presented. Parsons Executive Dean, David C. Levy, extends special thanks to Chair of the Fashion Design Department, Frank Rizzo. Dorene Benedetto receives the Student Designer of the Year Award. Fashion editor Edith Raymond Locke announces the runway show.
