Scope and Contents

The first segment of a two-part video of the Parsons School of Design annual fashion show at the New York Marriott Marquis. The event honors Philip B. Miller, chairman and chief executive officer at Saks Fifth Avenue. The video begins with a montage depicting preparation for the runway show, clips from the show, and post-show socalizing. Arnold H. Aronson, chairman of the Parsons Board of Governors and trustee at the New School for Social Research, opens the event. Jonathan F. Fanton, president of the New School for Social Research, presents the Parsons Award to Miller and announces the establishment of the Philip B. Miller Scholarship Fund. Frank Rizzo, chair of the Fashion Design Department, introduces the video, "Parsons: 100 Years of American Design Presented by Saks Fifth Avenue." This video recognizes the connection between Saks Fifth Avenue and Parsons. The runway show follows. Footage ends midway through this show. Rizzo is the announcer.

The theme for this year's showcase is "Shady Ladies." Designer Donald Brooks annouces that these costumes are to be displayed in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue the following week.
