The President of The New School Bob Kerrey confers the Parsons Award to Jacobs. Kerrey thanks Randy Swearer, executive dean of Parsons, for his service to the school. This is Swearer's last year as dean. Swearer announces his successor, Paul Goldberger. Sofia Coppola presents a video tribute to Jacobs that she directed. The year 2004 marks the 20th anniversary of Jacobs winning Parsons's Student Designer of the Year Award, now the Designer of the Year Award. Natalia Allen and Ashleigh Verrier jointly receive the Designer of the Year Award for 2004.
