Documenting the administrative arrangements to organize and program this series, the file largely includes correspondence between Daniel S. Anthony, who proposed and organized the series, with Dean Birenbaum, regarding speaker invitations, including letters regarding the controversy surrounding Malcolm X and his disinvitation from the lecture series at the insistence of New School trustee, Dorothy Hirshon, and president emeritus, Alvin Johnson. Also includes reading list and outline for the course held in conjunction with the lecture series. A small number of these records were digitized, including letters to Malcolm X, as well as the series poster.
