Series
Scope and Contents
From the moment the University in Exile was founded in 1933, stories about its formation and the lives and careers of its eminent immigrant scholars were frequently incorporated into New School promotional materials. This series offers a glimpse of Graduate Faculty activities through the lens of the Publicity Office, documenting administrative developments, course offerings, public programs, and faculty accomplishments. Of note are the "War-related activities" files compiled before and during World War II, detailing the research and government service of the refugee scholars, who contributed to the war effort their academic expertise and deep perspectives on the social, psychological, political and economic conditions in Europe.
