Correspondence, reports, lesson plans, publicity, press, and other materials related to funding provided to the Jazz program by the Amelior Foundation, 1990-1992. In the first year, the foundation funded two projects, the Student Management Organization and the Ready Mentoring Program. The file primarily documents the mentoring program. Under the direction of Donald Byrd, the program was established in conjunction with the Boys' and Girls' Clubs of Newark, New Jersey, "to use the language of jazz as an avenue for social and cultural growth."
