Jonathan Fanton served as interim director, and later as the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Visiting Fellow at Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College from 2009 until 2014. As director and fellow, Fanton advised Hunter College on developing their educational program in human rights and was responsible for hosting events and developing the public program of the school.
