Scope and Contents

A selection of sketches, paintings, and prints executed in pastel, graphite, ink, and a variety of paint materials. Ojeda created these works in the 1970s mostly during the years he was a student. Most of it was likely produced as exercises or assignments for classes, and the work from 1975-1979 includes graded work from classes at Parsons School of Design. Early work is stamped with Ojeda's initials "GO." Work dated 1979 was likely created in Spain, where Ojeda traveled on a CINTAS Fellowship for Cuban artists after graduating from Parsons. It was in Madrid that he began to experiment with urban nightscapes, which became one of his main subjects in the 1980s. Common subjects are still lifes, nudes, religious and historical figures, cityscapes, and self-portraits. The self-portraits are all in box 2, folder 8. A figurine of the Virgin Mary, identified as such by the donor, is in box 9, folder 14.
