Series 7. Dissertation research, 1973-1977

 Series

Scope and Contents

Levy's 1979 doctoral dissertation, entitled An Historical Study of Parsons School of Design and Its Merger/Affiliation with the New School for Social Research, concerns the merger between the two schools, in which Levy himself played a major role as an administrator. This series includes materials consulted by Levy while researching and writing his dissertation. Items include transcripts of interviews and questionnaires with New School trustees, administrators, and faculty, as well as correspondence, meeting minutes, and clippings. The correspondence here concerns Levy's questions regarding different aspects of the merger, both the specific New School-Parsons merger, and the general concept of a corporate merger. Additional materials related to the merger, when not directly connected to Levy's dissertation, will be found throughout the collection. A copy of his dissertation is available for onsite consultation in The New School Archives, as well as through Proquest.
