Rare Books: A Guide to Collecting, Appreciating, and Selling Antiquarian Books was a semester-long lecture series held at the New School for Social Research in partnership with the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America. The collection consists of sound reel recordings of the weekly lectures.

Historical note
Rare Books: A Guide to Collecting, Appreciating, and Selling Antiquarian Books was a special lecture series held at the New School for Social Research in the Spring semester of 1977, in partnership with the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America. The series featured lectures by antiquarian booksellers, librarians, and book collectors on topics related to the collection of and trade in rare books, as well as in autographs, maps, prints and other ephemera. Each session was typically organized around a particular genre or kind of printed matter.
An advertisement in The New York Times, January 2, 1977, titled, "New Yorkers Study at The New School," reads, "Rare Books: A Guide to Collecting, Appreciating, and Selling Antiquarian Books. A lecture series offered in cooperation with the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America, and featuring guest experts including major dealers, librarians, and collectors. Among them: George S. Lowry, President, Swann Galleries, Inc.; Terry Belanger, Professor, Columbia School of Library Service; Marcus A. McCorison, Director and Librarian, American Antiquarian Society. Wednesdays, 6:00 pm, $50."
