Scope and Contents
The collection consists of audio recordings of thirteen public lectures featuring New Yorker staff and contributors. These lectures were advertised in the "Special Lectures" section of The New School's general (continuing education) course catalog as a non-credit course. The course description indicates the lectures "explore the history and traditions of The New Yorker and [the speakers] consider their own relationships" with the magazine. Although the first two lectures are only identified by the speaker, all subsequent events in the series are characterized by the genre of work or section of the magazine discussed by participants.
There is no known video of the events.
All lectures advertised in the Fall 1989 and Fall 1990 New School course catalogs are present in the collection.
