A proposal by William Birenbaum and Dr. Sol Chaneles, who worked at the Division of Research and Planning for the Department of Correction, City of New York, for a program at The New School offering courses for corrections officers and inmates. The proposed classes were 1. English as a Second Language for Spanish-speaking inmates. 2. Spanish for English-speaking Correction Officers. Folder originally labelled, "Chaneles, Mr. Sol."

Includes a 1947 memorandum from Clara Mayer stating that the New York State Education Department requires all instructors to take an oath of allegiance to the American and State constitutions. Also includes examples of faculty-signed oaths.

Consists of one copy of Notes on The New School Murals by Alvin Johnson, a 1953 memoranda about placing a curtain in front of the mural panel with images of Stalin and Lenin, and a 1965 New York Times newspaper clipping of an article by John Canady, "Half of the Orozco Loaf." Appears to have been used as an historical reference file for information about the murals.
