Abstract

Mary Adrienne Steckling Coen (1934-2006) graduated from Parsons School of Design's Fashion Design Department in 1958. In 1966, "Adri" --her professional name-- created her own line, designing under her own labels for the rest of her career. The records document Adri's professional life, with items arranged by year and season. Includes clippings and tear sheets, photographs, press kits, sketches, swatches, and video recordings.

Abstract Fashion illustrator Michaele Vollbracht (1947-2018) graduated from Parsons in 1968, and returned periodically as a visiting critic. After working as a design assistant for Geoffrey Beene, Donald Brooks, and Norman Norell, Vollbracht turned to fashion illustration and portraiture. In 1985 Vollbracht published Nothing Sacred, an illustrated memoir, and in 2000 Parsons mounted an exhibition to celebrate the release of an updated version of the book....

Abstract

This collection consists of three audio recordings of lectures held as part of the Henry Wolf Lecture Series. This series, held in the Fall of 1998 in honor of graphic designer and longtime Parsons School of Design instructor Henry Wolf, focused on all aspects of graphic design. Summary Robert Galster (1923-1991) and Gilbert Ireland (1924-2015) were designers and alumni of Parsons School of Design. Galster worked as a freelance illustrator and designer. Ireland designed window displays for Bergdorf Goodman for over forty years. The collection consists primarily of Galster's work and includes examples of his designs for books, album covers, and theater posters. Summary

Collection consists of student projects created as a final assignment for Professor Esther Choi's Advanced Research Seminar: Constructed Environments during the fall 2016 semester. All students were undergraduates in The New School's Parsons School of Design, primarily in architecture, interior design, and product design programs. The projects take the form of design manifestoes, combining text, images, and different forms of presentation.

Irene Walker (1919-2002) was a Parsons School of Design alumna ('51) and an interior designer, who worked for the firm McMillen Inc., before establishing her own firm, Joie de Vivre, Irene Walker Inc., in 1966. The collection consists of Walker's student work and documentation of her professional work.
