Abstract

The collection consists of eight zines created by members of the New School community (mostly students) at a zine workshop hosted by the New School Archives and Special Collections. The workshop was part of several events hosted in October 2019 for the "Festival of New," a week-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of The New School’s founding.

Abstract Steven Guarnaccia (1953-) is an American freelance illustrator who served as chair of the Illustration Department at Parsons School of Design from 2004 to 2011, and as associate professor at the school until his retirement in 2021, where he taught courses on experimental children’s books and pictozines. Abstract

During the fall 2025 semester, Eugene Lang College students of Alhena Katsof’s Practicing Curating course curated an exhibition featuring silk panels that replicated the fresco murals by José Clemente Orozco entitled, A Call to Revolution and Table of Universal Brotherhood. The collection includes programs, posters, zines, and images of events held while the exhibition was on display.
