Democracy Seminar oral history project
Independent study oral history project on New School history
This oral history project consists of six audio interviews conducted by New School for Public Engagement student Gerard O. Hemmerle as an independent study under the supervision of Professor Julia L. Foulkes during the Spring 2013 semester. Interviewees consist of long-serving university faculty and staff, primarily associated with what was known as the New School for Public Engagement. Recordings are all in English.
Michael Kalil oral history project
The Michael Kalil Oral History Project consists of audio interviews with colleagues, collaborators, and friends of interior designer Michael Kalil (1943-1991). Jean Gardner, Karyn Issa Ginsberg, and Marty Speigel discuss Kalil's education, career, and ideas with project archivist Jennifer Larson. Kalil's work—incorporating diverse principles of architecture and philosophy—was considered by many to be revolutionary in the 1970s and 1980s.
New School oral history program
The New School oral history program, initiated in 2012, consists of recorded sound interviews conducted by Archives and Special Collections staff and faculty partners to document aspects of university history that may not exist in other recorded formats. Interviewees consist of current and retired New School alumni, administrators, faculty, and staff. Topics cover different academic departments and disciplines, university offices, and affiliated institutes. Recordings are all in English.
Parsons School of Design Dean's Office oral history project
This collection consists of audio interviews with alumni of Parsons School of Design recorded between 2013 and 2015. Interviewees include James Drake, Nancye Green, Michael Donovan, Marc Jacobs, Dee McDonald-Miller, and Kay Unger. Interviewers include Executive Dean of Parsons Joel Towers and The New School Archives Director Wendy Scheir. The interviews are retained as digital files.
