Abstract Clara Woolie Mayer (1895-1988) held a long affiliation with the New School: as a student, as a trustee, and then in administrative roles, including dean of the School of Philosophy and Liberal Arts (1943-1961) and vice president of the New School for Social Research (1950-1961). Constance P. Brown papers

Summary

Constance P. Brown attended the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (later, Parsons School of Design) from 1913 to 1917, and worked as secretary to Frank Alvah Parsons in the teens or 1920s. The collection consists of correspondence from Parsons to Brown, faculty announcements, school circulars, interior decoration class rolls, clippings from 1913-1934, and correspondence with Parsons School of Design Alumni Association.

Harold Matossian graphic design work for Knoll

Abstract

In 1979, Harold Matossian (Parsons School of Design, 1968) became director of the Knoll furniture company's graphics department, producing invitations, brochures, stationery, catalogs and other corporate literature for the company until 1994. The Kellen Design Archives holds finished examples of these graphics.

Maurice Edwards papers documenting the work of graphologist Klara G. Roman

Abstract

This collection primarily consists of correspondence, articles, and proofs related to the publication of graphologist and New School faculty member Klara Roman's (1881-1962) book, Encyclopedia of the Written Word. The materials were assembled by actor, director, and author Maurice Edwards (1922-2020) in his capacity as Roman's assistant and posthumous co-editor (with Rose Wolfson). The files also hold items related to Edwards's theater career.

New School Office of Communications, George Calderaro records

Summary

This record group consists of video recordings, clippings, publicity samples, advertising materials, and topical office files, which include a large number of press releases, created by George Calderaro in his capacity as director of publicity for what is, as of 2019, The New School's Schools of Public Engagement. Calderaro led the New School Communications Office (later subsumed into the Marketing and Communications unit), from 1995 to 2005.

New School School of Media Studies records

The School of Media Studies began as the Center for Understanding Media. Accredited through Antioch College, the program offered courses through the New School for Social Research. The New School formally absorbed Media Studies in 1975, after a four-year partnership. The records consist of curricula vitae, files, reports, syllabi, posters and other printed publicity materials, and student work.
