This collection is comprised of audiovisual recordings primarily commissioned by Parsons School of Design. Most of the recordings are of the Parsons Fashion Design Department's annual scholarship benefit and runway show. Also included in the collection are recordings of junior year presentations, promotional films about Parsons, and a Japanese-language film created by the United States Information Agency featuring a Parsons fashion student.

This collection consists of records created and received by Parsons School of Design Presidents Sterling A. Callisen (president 1959-1963) and Francis A. Ruzicka (president 1963-1969), and records of the Parsons Academic Dean's Office and Business Manager from the 1950s-1960s. These records contain student work, publicity materials, photographs, and audiovisual material from the Parsons School of Design School of Fashion's undergraduate and graduate programs, primarily the BFA Fashion Design program. To a lesser extent, the AAS Fashion Design and MFA Fashion Design and Society programs are also documented.

The New School Graduate Faculty established the East and Central Europe Program in 1990, expanding to become the Transregional Center for Democratic Studies (TCDS) in 1997, to foster dialogue on democratic theory and practice in East and Central Europe, Central America and southern Africa, among other regions. The collection documents the center’s events, seminars, workshops, and conferences. Also includes research and course files of TCDS founder, Elzbieta Matynia.
