Reconsidering Daniel Patrick Moynihan, 2003 October 15
Scope and Contents
Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who died last March at age 76, represented New York in the U.S. Senate for four terms. He was before and during his time in the Senate a scholar, policy expert, and public intellectual who addressed important social issues and never shied away from controversy. Many of the issues he took up as a scholar and as a politician are still alive and controversial. A panel of distinguished scholars, journalists, and critics reflects on his legacy: E.J. Dionne, Washington Post; Nathan Glazer, author of We Are All Multicultural Now; Jennifer Hochschild, author of Facing Up to the American Dream; Diane Lewis, Department of Architecture, Cooper Union; Orlando Patterson, Professor of Sociology, Harvard; and David Plotke, author of Building a Democratic Political Order. Presented by the Wolfson Center for National Affairs.
