Biographical / Historical

John Durniak was born in 1928 in Yonkers, New York. He began his career at Life magazine in 1951 as a photographer’s assistant, later working as a picture editor for Time magazine and The New York Times. Durniak won the Joseph A. Sprague award from the National Press Photographers Association in 1972.
