Scope and Contents
In the first of two segments, Charles Gatewood provides an overview of his photography career while sharing a slideshow of his work. He warns the audience about the graphic nature of his work and describes his interest in countercultures, describing various communities that he has photographed. He then discusses his technical approach to photography and recalls how he convinced William S. Burroughs to write an introduction for his book, Sidetripping. In the second segment, Gatewood continues to discuss earlier projects, as well as his transition to color photography and his newer work on Wall Street. He then addresses recent legal troubles and his most recent book. A question and answer session follows the presentation.

Biographical / Historical
Charles Gatewood was born in 1942 in Illinois. In 1966, a photograph of Bob Dylan brought him international acclaim and he moved to New York, working for The Manhattan Tribune, The New York Times and Rolling Stone magazine. In addition to his journalistic work, Gatewood photographed nightlife and extreme lifestyle subcultures. He received the Leica Medal of Excellence in 1985.
