Correspondence, reports, draft and final proposals, and internal memoranda tracing the development of the Jazz program at The New School. Includes the initial 1984 proposal from Arnie Lawrence and David C. Levy proposing a BFA curriculum in Jazz and the March 1985 proposal submitted to the New York State Education Department to establish the BFA. Documents from the mid-1990s focus largley on changes in reporting structures and the relationship between the Jazz program and Mannes College of Music. Includes a course catalog for the Mannes College of Music Extension Division 1994-1995. The main correspondents in these folders are Parsons School of Design Executive Dean David C.
