Bang!: The Eugene Lang College Paper, 1990 November -1991 April
Scope and Contents
Bang! was a student newspaper at Eugene Lang College, published in five issues between November 1990 and May 1991. The paper was the successor to the earlier Lang Seminar, which was originally published as part of a class taught at Lang by Mark Statman and ceased publication after the Fall 1989 semester, when that class was discontinued. Bang! contained news reportage, opinion pieces, event listings, humour and poetry. It was published during the Gulf War and several articles reflect student concerns, such as “How to Avoid the Draft”, “How I Fought the War” and “Sensing a Storm: Are We Heading Toward a Full-Scale Draft.” It was published out of the Sudent Publications Office, and assisted by Gregory Tewksbury, a professor of education studies.
