Notes on the City was a journal published by urban studies students at Eugene Lang College at The New School, once in Fall 1993 and a second and final time in Fall 1996. The journal published essays and academic writing as well as creative writing and photography. The publication of the journal was assisted by faculty member Elaine Abelson, Chair of Urban Studies, who acted as organizer and editor, and was printed by The Print Center Inc., a non-profit printer for arts publications in New York City. According to Abelson, only two issues were published due to expense and absence of institutional financial support (email from Elaine Abelson to Jenny Swadosh, May 16, 2023).
