Set begins with Volume 2, Number 1, which is unlike what follows as it is more of a newspaper than a journal. Release was the long-running literary journal of Eugene Lang College at The New School. Release was published annually beginning in 1987, and published poetry, prose, photography and visual art. It was offered as a for-credit course at Lang College, which was taught by various faculty members including Susan Sherman, Jill Magi and Albert Mobilio. Release was published until 2012, when it was renamed Eleven and a Half.
