Historical Note

"Feminism and Architecture" was a two-part conference series held in 2014 and 2015 at The New School in New York City. The series was initiated and organized by architect and educator Brian McGrath, dean of the School of Constructed Environments at Parsons School of Design. In the first year, McGrath partnered with the Architectural League of New York on the conference, "Feminism + Architecture: Intergenerational Conversations," where the keynote address was delivered by Susana Torre, who in the 1990s had led the establishment of the master’s degree program in architecture at Parsons. Peggy Deamer from Yale University worked with McGrath to organize the 2015 conference, "Women, Architecture, and Academia."
