Rose and Erwin Wolfson Center for National Affairs event recordings

Abstract

The collection consists of audio and video recordings of events sponsored by the Rose and Erwin Wolfson Center for National Affairs at The New School. With the exception of the Center's inaugural semester in Fall 1986, the recordings document the entirety of Center's existence.

Roy Fleming collection

Summary

Canadian elementary school teacher Roy F. Fleming (1878-1958) produced the notebook and drawing in this collection while attending the New York School of Art (later, Parsons School of Design) between 1902 and 1907. Fleming's notes include sketches illustrating lectures by Frank Alvah Parsons, William Merritt Chase, and Robert Henri. The collection also includes a photograph of Fleming, his diploma, and a color chart created for art instruction.

Roy Little sketchbooks

Abstract

Roy Little graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1949 and went on to become a designer for renowned French couturier Jacques Fath. He returned to Parsons as an instructor in 1958 and remained in that position until 1979. The nine numbered sketchbooks held by the New School Archives represent Little's work for Fath.

Saks Fifth Avenue fashion publicity records

Abstract

The collection is comprised of 75 binders of fashion photographs and press materials promoting Saks Fifth Avenue’s clothing lines between 1954 and 1974, including Sophie Gimbel Originals, ready to wear and custom collections from 1954 to 1967. The photographs, reproductions of fashion sketches, and press releases shed light on Saks' fashion and marketing strategy under Helen O'Hagan, who succeeded Grace de Mun as Saks publicity director.

Seth Benardete lecture audio recordings

Abstract

This collection consists of audio files of lectures given by classics scholar and philosopher Seth Benardete in his classes at The New School and New York University. The lectures represent Benardete's courses on subjects such as the works of Plato and Aristotle, among others. Each course consists of a series of recordings covering the semester-long span of that course. The recordings were made by Benardete's students on cassette recorder.
