Student work from courses taught by Robert Rabinovitz
This collection contains work produced by undergraduate students enrolled in Robert Rabinovitz's courses in the School of Design Strategies at Parsons School of Design. Courses include Product Design, Design and Management, Design Lab, and Technology and Social Interaction, among others. The student work consists largely of published book projects. Also found in this collection are syllabi and other course materials created by Rabinovitz.
Sunbeam Randall student work
Sunbeam "Sunny" Randall (1898-1993) graduated from Parsons School of Design Interior Design Department in 1951 and worked as a professional decorator. The collection includes course materials, furniture and decorative style sketches, class notes, and a scrapbook documenting Randall's art tour of Europe as a Parsons student in 1950.
Sydney Fromkes student portfolio
A leather portfolio embossed with "Sydney Fromkes, 1910-1927" on the front, containing student work from the brief time Fromkes attended the New York School of Fine and Applied Art before his death in 1927 at the age of 17. The portfolio contains theatrical costume drawings, poems, and other writings.
Violet Holsinger Mueller papers
Violet Holsinger Mueller (1907-2003) studied fashion design at the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (later, Parsons School of Design) from 1926 through 1929. She worked as an interior designer for Stix, Baer & Fuller, a St. Louis-based department store, and founded her own design consultancy in Belleville, Illinois. Her papers include personal materials, and documentation created during her studies at Parsons and her design career.
Women's Legacy at The New School collection
This collection consists of material related to the Women's Legacy at The New School project, including student-led research projects, documentation of a performance during the New School Centennial in 2019, and a podcast interview with co-founder of the project, Gina Luria Walker.
Zack Carr papers
After graduating from Parsons School of Design Fashion Design Department in 1973, Zack Carr (1945-2000) worked for B. Altman, Donald Brooks and, most importantly, as creative director for Calvin Klein. In 1984, Carr started his own line, the Zack Carr Collection, before rejoining Calvin Klein in 1987. The papers consist of items produced and compiled between 1969 and 2000, including idea books, photographs, clippings, student work, and sketches.
Ziva S. Gruber papers
Ziva S. Gruber (née Margalith) is an interior designer and former student at Parsons School of Design. This collection contains Gruber's student notebooks from her classes at Parsons in the early 1960s and documentation of her professional design work. Also included is material related to a 1971 Parsons student project on the redesign of the Central Park Zoo, which Gruber worked with students on as a voluntary instructor.
