David Corcos Levy served as dean of Parsons School of Design from 1970 until 1989. The bulk of these records were generated between 1970 and 1984, after the merger of Parsons and the New School for Social Research, and consist of memos, correspondence, reports, and subject files related to Levy's administrative tenure. Correspondents include a range of New School and Parsons administrators, including New School president John R. Everett.

Categories and subjects represented herein include developing and implementing new degree programs; the process of merging academic institutions, including the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles; faculty relations and unionization; accreditation; program and department establishment and design; and fundraising activities. Also found here are materials created by the Parsons Board of Trustees and, after the merger, the New School Board of Overseers.

This collection consists of material created and assembled by New School alumna Jo Townson in the course of her activism with the Mobilization for Real Diversity, Democracy, and Economic Justice in the mid-1990s. The Mobilization was a student-led protest movement at The New School during the 1996-1997 academic year. The materials include Mobilization fliers, pamphlets, and meeting notes, as well as material collected by the Mobilization.

John Everett (1918-1992) served as president of The New School from 1964-1982. This collection documents the activities of the president's office during his tenure, and includes some files from prior presidents. Also included is material from Everett's board service at other academic institutions, and manuscripts for speeches and articles he authored. Some files are restricted. Judith B. Walzer served as the first provost of the New School for Social Research (now, The New School) from 1985 to 1997. The collection contains correspondence, memoranda, program proposals, university budget-related files, and documents pertaining to faculty matters during Walzer’s tenure as provost.

The Lesley Cadman records were created or received by Lesley Cadman during her term as vice dean of Parsons School of Design. Some records pre-date Cadman's arrival at Parsons.

The papers of M.S. Handler, a foreign correspondent for The New York Times and United Press Association, among other news outlets, includes correspondence, photographs, draft writings, research files, and press clippings. The records date from the early 1920s through 1981, with the bulk created between 1942 and 1969.

These records were created by the dean's office of the adult education division of The New School (as of 2022, Schools of Public Engagement), and predominantly reflect the activities of two deans, William Birenbaum and Allen Austill, 1961-1979. A subset of records document the formation of New School College in the 1960s, the Institute for Retired Professionals, and the Physicians Assistant program. A number of files are restricted due to confidentiality.

The collection consists of records originating from the office of Mary Urban, who coordinated fundraising and public relations efforts at the New School in the 1940s and early 1950s, and that of her successor, Margarete Westmann, director of Development from 1958-1962. Materials include memoranda and correspondence, financial statements, budgets, advertising contracts, donor and prospect records, and New School Associates membership records.

Also includes event planning materials and invitations, fundraising appeals, minutes, reports, promotional materials, and records documenting the work of the Scholarship Committee and the Graduate Faculty Alumni Association. These papers document the New School Office of the President’s planning efforts relating to hosting events and to travel, mostly from between 1979 and 1989, including events spanning the tenures of John Everett and Jonathan Fanton and travel during only the Fanton era. Documentation includes guest lists, seating arrangements, invitations and correspondence with speakers, attendees, and vendors, transcripts of speeches delivered by the president, and notes on fundraising and development strategy.
