Harry Scherman Library Grille collection
The Harry Scherman Library served as the main library facility for the Mannes College of Music from 1965 to 2016, originating at Mannes’s 157 East 74th Street location, and later existing at 150 West 85th Street from 1984 to 2016. The Scherman Library, over the course of its history, stored various music-related items of ephemera which constitute this collection.
Henriette Granville Suhr papers
Interior designer and Parsons School of Design alumna Henriette Granville Suhr (1917-2015) specialized in merchandising and display design. This collection represents her work for such manufacturers, retailers, and designers as Baker Furniture, Bloomingdale's, and T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings.
Henry H. Arnhold memory book
A compilation of notes, correspondence, and photographs depicting philanthropist Henry Arnhold’s involvement with and contributions to The New School over the course of almost eight decades. This book was created by the New School Development Office on the occasion of Arnhold’s death in 2018.
Horace M. Kallen research files
These papers contain drafts, outlines, notes, and manuscripts authored by Horace Meyer Kallen (bulk 1930s-1960s), documenting his career as a founding professor of philosophy at the New School for Social Research (1919-1974). His papers also contain writings by others and research material in the form of offprints and printed journals. Many topics center on religion and his work with Jewish organizations during the 1950s-1960s.
Institute for Retired Professionals office files
The Institute for Retired Professionals (IRP) was a continuing education program for retirees established at The New School in 1962. The collection contains a small subset of administrative records, including interoffice correspondence, reports, and photographs, from part of the directorship of Michael Markowitz (1988-2016).

James Henry Pickering papers
James Henry Pickering, Jr. (1904-1969) was an American illustrator and retail merchandiser who served as the president of Amos Parrish & Company, Inc. The collection primarily comprises examples of his illustration work, yet it also contains information about his personal life and career. Records in the collection from Pickering’s career at Amos Parrish & Co. include promotional brochures, speeches from fashion clinics, and merchandising workbooks.
Janet Mabon scrapbook
Entitled, "My Memory Book of Musical Experiences," this scrapbook was kept by Janet Mabon (1904–1965), a voice student at the David Mannes Music School from 1923 to 1925. The scrapbook contains black and white photographs of Mabon, her friends, and her voice teacher, Giulio Silva; concert and recital programs; school progress reports; press clippings; and correspondence.

John R. Everett papers
The collection consists of John Everett's work from his positions at Hollins College, City University of New York, Encyclopedia Britannica, and The New School for Social Research. Contents include correspondence, clippings, manuscripts, reports and statements. Of special interest may be materials related to the New School’s 1970 student occupation, and Everett's writings opposing desegregation and the 1968 student protests.
