Primarily internal correspondence between Martin Mueller and New School colleagues regarding the development and promotion of the New School Jazz and Contemporary Music Program when it was operating independently from Parsons School of Design but was not yet a discrete division. The folder includes a substantive exchange between Martin Mueller and Charles (Chuck) Kaufman, dean of Mannes College of Music, on the structural conflict arising from there being two separate jazz degrees at The New School. Also includes notes from New School president, Jonathan Fanton, and an invitation from acting provost Elizabeth Dickey to a 1999 reception celebrating Mueller's appointment as executive director of Jazz and Contemporary Music.
