Abstract

Elizabeth Aaron taught ear-training in the Techniques of Music department of Mannes College of Music (later, Mannes School of Music at The New School) from 1957 to 2017. The collection consists of administrative files relating to Aaron’s committee roles, Mannes board of trustee minutes, notebooks, recordings, photographs, and materials pertaining to the attempted merger of Mannes and Manhattan School of Music in 1978.

Abstract

This collection of 24 drawings and paintings consists of women’s and men’s fashion illustrations created by Elizabeth Cornell, probably in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The illustrations mostly depict women’s and men’s wear, accessories, and fabric patterns.

Elizabeth Geary Hoopes Krusen (1908-2006) was a student and instructor at the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (later, Parsons School of Design). She specialized in watercolor interior design renderings. The collection consists of four renderings of residential interiors by Hoopes, two of which were commissioned by McMillen, Inc.

Summary Emil Antonucci (1929-2006) was a New York-based artist, graphic artist, book designer, illustrator, publisher, and teacher. This collection contains artwork and design project materials relating to his freelance design and artistic career. Summary Esta Nesbitt (1918-1975), an instructor at Parsons School of Design from 1964 to 1974, created fashion illustrations for Harper's Bazaar, Mademoiselle, and New York Times Magazine. Later in her career, Nesbitt used innovative printing methods as a children's book illustrator, and experimented with Xerography. Abstract

Three impressions from an edition of 100 prints produced in 1974 from a zinc-plate etching created in 1933. The etching is divided into six small panels in which each of the artists etched a portrait of another member of the group.

The collection includes class notes and a clipbook of decorative styles compiled by Ethel Epstein (who later used the surnames Dean and Evans) when she attended the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (later Parsons School of Design) in the Interior Architecture and Decoration Department, around 1925. Also includes textile samples, circa the 1950s, and costume designs for the Broadway play "The Laughing Woman" (1936).

Overview

Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts is the undergraduate liberal arts college of The New School university system. Librarians in the former Raymond Fogelman Library established this collection of printed materials and ephemera created by the Eugene Lang College administration, faculty, or students, and The New School Archives staff occasionally adds to the collection. The bulk of the collection consists of student periodicals in the form of newspapers and journals.
