Abstract

The New School was a frequent host of PEN American Center events, co-sponsored by the university's MFA in Creative Writing Program. This collection of mostly audio recordings documents PEN Forums, literary awards, World Voices Festival, and singular events over a roughly 15-year span.

The collection consists of audio and video recordings of events sponsored by the Rose and Erwin Wolfson Center for National Affairs at The New School. With the exception of the Center's inaugural semester in Fall 1986, the recordings document the entirety of its existence.

Summary The Schools of Public Engagement was formed in 2011 with the reorganization of the New School for General Studies. Collection consists of digital files related to HIV and AIDS prevention and education, produced by the Wellness and Health Promotion unit of The New School's Student Health Services office. University students at a private, urban university were the target audience for the approximately twenty files, predominantly fliers, comprising the collection.

Abstract The New You Peer Health Advocates oral history project consists of five interviews with the founders and alumni of The New You, The New School's peer health advocacy program. The New You was founded in 2010 by Rachel Knopf Shey and Tamara Oyola-Santiago, co-directors of Wellness and Health Promotion at The New School. Abstract

This collection consists of an entire run of the weekly periodical, The Weekly Observer, reporting on events, programs, and people from the New School community, compiled and produced by the university's office of Communications and External Affairs. The collection includes several formats of the publication, including printed downloads of email blasts, html files, Word files, PDF files, and WARC files from the university website.

Abstract

In 2014, the New School celebrated the 80th anniversary of the University in Exile, which was the institution first established by Alvin Johnson to provide refuge for Jewish and anti-Nazi scholars fleeing Europe in the 1930s and 1940s. This born-digital collection contains files related to the planning and programming of the commemorative event on January 30, 2014, including tribute videos featuring notable New School trustees who fled Europe during World War II.
