John R. Everett records

Abstract

John Everett (1918-1992) served as president of The New School from 1964-1982. This collection documents the activities of the president's office during his tenure, and includes some files from prior presidents. Also included is material from Everett's board service at other academic institutions, and manuscripts for speeches and articles he authored. Some files are restricted. Joseph J. Greenbaum papers

Abstract

Joseph J. Greenbaum (1924-2011), a specialist in experimental psychology, joined the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research in 1957 and was appointed full professor in 1962. He also served as dean of the Graduate Faculty from 1966 to 1979. This collection contains documentation of Greenbaum’s courses in the Psychology Department and administrative files from his role as dean.

Joseph Kahn audiorecordings of conversations with media personalities

Summary

Consists of 166 audiocassette tapes recording conversations between retired investigative journalist Joseph Kahn and reporters, editors, and other media personalities invited to his courses at the New School for Social Research between 1979 and the early 1990s. Participants include Pete Hamill, Nick Pileggi, Gay Talese, and Murray Kempton, among many others. Frequent guests include Sidney Zion, Liz Smith, and Jack O'Brien.

Journal Donation Project records

Abstract

From 1990 to 2018, the Journal Donation Project solicited donated or discounted subscriptions to social science periodicals for libraries around the world. Under the Transregional Center for Democratic Studies and, later, the Center for Public Scholarship at The New School, the Project's early focus was Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Records include files arranged by recipient countries, as well as funding sources.
