Historical note

The sketches in this collection were donated by the Daily News Record--often identified simply as DNR--a trade journal published by Fairchild Publications. Established in Chicago in 1890, DNR exclusively covered menswear, while another Fairchild journal, Womens Wear Daily (or WWD) concentrated on women's fashion. Fairchild Publications was acquired by Condé Nast in 1993 and DNR stopped publishing in 2008.
